Sunnyside finance director fired by interim city manager

Date:

SUNNYSIDE, Wash. – With turmoil in the city government continuing, Sunnyside is seeing the departure of another city employee after the Interim City Manager fired them.

Interim City Manager Jim Bridges confirmed that Kelly Koskie, the city’s finance director, was terminated from her position on August 27. Bridges did not elaborate about what led to the firing.

The termination comes as an investigation into the current city manager, Mike Gonzalez, continues into the month of September. Gonzalez has been on paid administrative leave since June 2025. The City Council has been divided on the matter of the investigation into Gonzalez, with some members wishing to intensify the investigation and others saying it has been a waste of resources.

In June, the head of Sunnyside’s Public Works Department, Cus Arteaga, resigned citing unprofessional treatment during city council meetings.
