12-year-old Pasco County student arrested for threat part of ‘Cat in the Hat’ viral trend

 El Paso, TX. A Pasco County middle schooler was arrested after making a threat to his school as part of a new concerning viral trend.

According to the Pasco County Sheriff’s Office, the suspect was a 12-year-old from Crews Lake Middle School.

The threat was made on social media as part of a global “The Cat In The Hat” viral trend.

There was no immediate threat to campus safety.

“PSO investigates all threats we’re made aware of and reminds parents, guardians and students to report suspicious activity as quickly as possible,” the sheriff’s office said. “PSO takes all threats seriously and urges parents and guardians to speak with students about the consequences of making threats.”
